Indesit

Specialist Works

The Background

Indesit moved their main warehousing and distribution functions to Sharpness Docks back in 2005.

The site they took over was filled with Pallet Racking and two large cold stores so significant work was required before a single electrical appliance could be stored in there.

The Solution

Our first instruction was to remove all of the pallet racking from their extensive warehouse areas.  This was no small task.  The total warehouse space is 150,000 sq ft and had a narrow aisle (wheel guided), double deep storage layout.

Providing several teams of engineers we quickly and safely dismantled and palletised the spare racking for use on another site (we were fortunate enough to gain the work to re-erect it at its new destination for another company !!).  This resulted in an open plan layout.

As Indesit block stack their machines we then had the task of line marking out all of the storage bays and computerised bay identification codes.  All of these works were completed on time and they were able to start moving their stock over as planned.

In 2011 it was decided to remove the two disused cold stores to increase product flow and create a better overall layout. Each cold store measured approx 100m long by 40m wide by 10m tall.

As these structures were tied into the building a controlled demolition plan was required.  Each ceiling panel was over 200mm thick, 9m long and 1200mm wide therefore a safe system of work had to be strictly adhered to. The wall panels were of a similar size and weight.  Over several weeks we carefully and safely cut through each 200mm thick panel and slowly lowered them to the floor.  With careful handling we were able to recycle 100% of all waste materials.

The Result

Indesit have benefitted from having one company who has helped them through several key projects who has delivered the complete managed package.

There were some significant cost savings made on each project due to our competitive price promise.

We continue to support Indesit on all other elements of their business requirements from high level lighting works to replacing damaged fire doors.

We have a long, proven and successful relationship with them.

Baileys Caravans

Baileys Caravans were founded in 1948. With successes from the start they then moved to their current site in 1960. This site is constantly changing due to the demands of their business and also with them embracing new technologies, production machines, etc. The need for effective space planning is therefore critical.
